updates pending [2\/20\/2026] &#8212;<\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Open Opportunities NOW:<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>These activities are only available at this time to WSU students:\n<ul>\n<li>students currently enrolled at WSU and who will remain enrolled throughout the duration of this activity, and<\/li>\n<li>students currently enrolled at WSU who can mostly complete the activity while still enrolled at WSU past their graduation at the end of this semester.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>These activiites can be signed up for in 3 ways:\n<ul>\n<li>*preferred* &#8212;\u00a0 the student registers for SOE 499 (undergraduate) or SOE 600 (graduate) independent study credit(s) (or similar independent study in another WSU department), where one credit can be granted for every 45 hours of satisfactory learning\/work per semester (i.e., 1 credit for 45 hours; 2 credits for 90 hours; 3 credits for 135 hours); in this arrangement the student submits monthly volunteer hours forms to me for approval that serve to document the time applied to these course credits;<\/li>\n<li>optional &#8212; the student signs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>If interested, send a formal email to kevan.moffett@wsu.edu.\u00a0 In the email, please describe: <\/b><b><\/b>\n<ol>\n<li>your specific interest from this list;<\/li>\n<li>why you are interested in it;<\/li>\n<li>what skills you bring to this activity;<\/li>\n<li>what specific skills and learning outcomes you wish to achieve with this activity;<\/li>\n<li>how many hours you are prepared to commit to this activity;<\/li>\n<li>on what kind of schedule you propose to complete those hours (e.g., [n] hours per week from [start date] to [end date], or intensive block of [n] hours per day for the days of [dates] when I do not have my other school and work committments);<\/li>\n<li>whether you will be able and willing to apply more time after that if you have not completed the task you chose by the end of the above dates (not a deal-breaker if not, but need to know this ahead of time to plan accordingly).<\/li>\n<li>whether you are able to register for SOE 499 (or another department&#8217;s independent study credits) in the semester in which you propose to complete this activity;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">General Positions<\/span><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>See also <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cas.vancouver.wsu.edu\/science-graduate-programs\">WSUV Science Graduate Programs<\/a><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Postdoctoral researchers <\/strong>with outside funding or interested in writing an application for outside funding with Dr. Moffett as supervisor are encouraged to contact Dr. Moffett at any time with a specific statement about the proposed research topic and the potential source of funding.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> <\/p>\n<h2>Student Opportunities<\/h2>\n<p> &#8212;
